Hanna Cares
Providing Safety by Delivering Carseats to Families Leaving the Hospital
Hanna Cares is a program that provides car seats to children of families affected by critical illness through There With Care. This program was started by Hanna’s parents Alan and Jodi Peterson out of their love and devotion to Hanna to ensure that children are safe in her memory.
Hanna Elizabeth Peterson is the precious 11-year old daughter of Alan and Jodi who passed away in a car accident on November 22, 2006. Hanna had taken her seatbelt off “just for a minute” to reach for something. Their car rolled several times, Hanna was thrown and suffered a severe and fatal brain injury. Their 6-year old son, Nolan, had also removed his seatbelt and was thrown from the car. Nolan suffered a closed traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for nearly a month. He is currently in an aggressive outpatient therapy program and will have cognitive problems for the rest of his life. In honor of Hanna, Alan and Jody’s message is simple, yet so important: “Remember, it only takes a minute to make sure your child is buckled safely. Please take the time; that minute could save their life. We love and miss Hanna so much.” – Alan and Jodi Peterson
